Join us on our Obstacle Course Race training programme (the Blast Programme), which has helped many ordinary people feel that maybe they can be extraordinary.

Training with us will help you improve your technique so that you can feel confident taking part in mud runs and obstacle course races such as Tough Mudder and Spartan Race.

Obstacle course racing is a great experience, whether you’re running as an individual or part of a team. There are so many different types of event and each race will test your fitness in multiple different ways. Whether the courses are run during the day or at night, are a short sprint or a long endurance run, you’ll need to train and prepare for every eventuality.

You’ll come across lots obstacles on a course including high walls to climb over, water to wade through, nets to crawl under, monkey bars to swing across, balance beans to walk along and heavy weights to drag along the floor or lift to the top of a hoist, as you do at Spartan. 

Our training plan is not like any of the circuit training, boot camps or long cardio sessions you might have tried in the past. Instead, we provide a strength training programme that focuses on upper body strength so you’ll be able to use the pull up bar and do push ups with ease.

You’ll find our core-based exercises will strengthen your abdominal muscles and improve your stability and posture when running. We’ll also work on your legs so you feel confident that whether the miles you’re covering are short or up to half-marathon length, it will feel easy.

Holding onto bars and rings on an assault course is a big part of some races and many people find this tricky, so we’ll help you work on the power in your back so you’ll be able to hold onto the bars and rings for minutes at a time.

By following our OCR training programme, you’ll know that once you line up on the start line of your race, you’ll be in the best shape possible and will have the right mindset to run a great race.

Here’s what’s included in the Blast Programme:

  • Two training sessions a week on various days and times at our studio in Nottingham, so you have flexibility regarding when you train.
  • Our unique training system, which has been designed and tested by us over the years, to help ensure you can complete your event and get over any obstacle on the course.
  • We will look at your upper body and grip strength, so you can master pull ups, get over obstacles and be as prepared as possible for race day.
  • You’ll be part of a small group, so you’ll get lots of individual attention to improve your training and see the results you’re after.
  • You’ll receive nutrition advice to support weight loss, and advice on what gear to get for your race, such as running shoes and gloves.
  • You’ll get the opportunity to go to The Obstacle Gym so that you get to practise all your techniques in a fun and friendly environment.
